OpenPlant Isometrics Manager Help

Project Configuration

Provides options for you to define default project settings to use when generating Isometric drawings from Isosheets.

Accessed from the main ribbon.

The options are grouped in expandable tabs as shown below:
SettingDescription
General
Overwrite Isometrics if not logged into PW — This option determines how isometric files are created when you process an iso sheet from the IsoSheet Grid, more than once. Select from either a True of False value.
Note: Note that this option is only utilized when you are not logged into a ProjectWise datasource.
Note: By default, the value for this option is True.
  • True - When the option set to True, if you reprocess an iso from the IsoSheet Grid more than once, it will overwrite the original iso instead of creating a numbered copy of it.
  • False - If the option is set to False, when you process an iso more than once, numbered copies will be created instead of overwriting the existing iso. The drawing names will have numbers appended to them. (For example: if the original isometric name isSampleIso.dgn, the subsequent isos will be named SampleIso.r001.dgn, SampleIso.r002.dgn etc.)
Note: Please note that if you have already created multiple copies of an isometric (as mentioned in the example above,) and then change the value to True and reprocess the same iso, the system will reset the output file naming to the default drawing name without the “.r00x” version number. Old versioned files are moved to the recycle bin when the new iso is processed. So if you want to keep these files, make sure to create a backup first.
Always Overwrite previous Isometrics when in Batch Mode — Determines whether existing isometrics will be overridden when using the Batch Mode to generate isometrics.
  • True - Enabled.
  • False - Disabled.
Move Deleted Files to the Recycle Bin - This setting determines whether a file is moved to the Recycle Bin when deleted.
  • True - Files will be moved to Recycle Bin.
  • False - Files will be permanently deleted.
ProjectWise Design States Allow Design State Switching — This option sets design file switching.
  • True - Allows Design State Switching.
  • False - Doesn't allow Design State Switching.
Enable ProjectWise Design States for i-models — This option allows you to define whether to allow ProjectWise Design States to apply to i-models.
  • True - Enabled.
  • False - Disabled.
ProjectWise Folder Settings Root Storage Folder — Defines the root storage folder for project isometric drawings. Click on the Browse button within the field to display a Folder Selection dialog listing the directory structure for the active datasource.
Allow To Create Folders — This option sets folder creation criteria.
  • True - Allows users to create folders.
  • False - Restrict the user from creating folders.
Allow To Post to ProjectWise if Iso Generation fails — This option permits posting iso to ProjectWise in the event iso generation fails.
  • True - Allows user to post iso to ProjectWise even if iso generation fails .
  • False - Restrict user from posting iso to ProjectWise if iso generation fails .
Application for Isometric Document — When posting an isometric to ProjectWise, this field allows you to apply a specific application for the isometric. For example, if Bentley Navigator is assigned to an isometric when posted to ProjectWise, the next time it is opened from ProjectWise, it will be opened in Bentley Navigator.
  • If no application is defined, it will open in MicroStation by default.

Storage Path Expression — Enables you to define a storage path convention for the iso sheets. Click the Browse button to display the Isometric Storage Path Expression Editor which enables you to define a text and property string to use as a storage path convention.

Overwrite Existing version — This option sets overwriting or creating a new version.
  • True - Select to overwrite existing version.
  • False - Select to create a new version.
  • Select the directory to store the isometric drawings from the list and click OK.
Isometric Continuity Options Max Iso continuing components — The continuing components give the user a reference of how the current isometric sheet connects with another drawing. The Max Iso continuing components option determines how many components from the connecting drawing will be displayed.
  • If you enter -1 here, the program will search all the components until the last continuing component, which is anything but a length of pipe.
  • Any number other than -1 will display the defined number of continuing components on the current isometric sheet.
Example: If the current isometric drawing connects to a tee, then the number of continuing components would be '1' If you wanted to display components beyond the connecting tee, then enter a higher number of continuing components to display.
Last continuing components — Enter a component class directly into the field or click the browse button to display the following dialog allowing you to select which continuing component(s) to search for.
  • Select the directory to store the isometric drawings from the list and click OK.
Default Settings Default Isometric Style — Select an iso style from one of the following options:
  • As-Built
  • Check
  • IFC
  • Stress
  • Tracing

Default Isometric Revision — Allows you to define the default Isometric Revision setting in either alphabetic or numeric terms. Click the Browse button to display the Revision Settings dialog used in defining the revision format.

Miscellaneous Harvest Generic Attributes from Components — In this field you can specify an attribute that is only available in the component tags to become available as drawing attribute. In the process of generating the iso, the program will scan the component tags to find the given attribute. If found, it will be written to the intermediate file in the TEXTNODES section.
Possible usage includes writing in the drawing frame or use it in the PW Storage Path Expression.
Note: If various components have different values for this attribute, the Isometrics Manager will pick the first value found.
Save Saves the changes made in the dialog. This button is disabled until a change is made.
Undo Deletes the latest change. This button is disabled until a change is made.
